Letter from a Our MLPA President:
Dear Morningside-Lenox Park Neighbors,
2023 marked the centennial anniversary of our beloved neighborhood. Over the year, I have come to appreciate the value of living in a vibrant, every changing community. For more than 20 years my husband and I have lived here and we cannot think of any other part of the city we would rather call home.
I have been a member of the MLPA board since 2018 and have witnessed firsthand the dedication and commitment of all the volunteers and board members who have served in various roles over the years. We at MLPA have made a lasting impact on security including increased officer patrols, a new patrol car, and license plate reading cameras that now fully cover the entire neighborhood perimeter. Zoning, traffic and transit recommendations, active friends of the park groups, monitoring the development and business concerns, as well as having a voice in governmental affairs that directly affect our community are other examples of the dedicated work of MLPA on your behalf.
This impact is only as strong as our membership, and while we have made increasing the number of members a primary focus over the last few years, we are still at only 28% for households in Morningside-Lenox Park…imagine what we could accomplish together with a more robust membership base.
Whether you appreciate the slate of events we produce every year, the security and vacation patrols, or simply having your voice heard on civic issues, your contribution to the MLPA will always be put to effective use.
